Introduction

Hi everyone, it’s Nazuna here!
Today I’m super excited to share one of Akihabara’s hidden ramen gems: Marusho Ramen Yodobashi Akiba!

This shop serves their signature “Maru-style Ramen”, a unique evolution of traditional chuka soba (Chinese-style soy sauce ramen). The broth is richer with extra oil, making it the perfect match for garlic, black pepper, and—best of all—a free bowl of rice that you can request with your ramen! Trust me, this rice is a MUST, so don’t forget to ask for it when you hand over your meal ticket.

Why Marusho Ramen is Special

What sets Marusho apart is its “Maru-style” ramen, which has more oil and depth than the standard chuka soba. The flavor is bold and hearty, and when you add garlic and black pepper from the table condiments, it becomes irresistibly punchy.

Plus, the free rice is not just a side—it’s an essential part of the experience. Scoop some of that flavorful broth or place char siu pork and nori on top of your rice, and you’ll discover a heavenly combo.

Ramen Details

Ordering is easy with the vending machine near the entrance—choose between ramen or tsukemen, then add your toppings.

Recommended dishes:

  • Tokusei Ramen (Special Ramen)
  • Tokusei Tsukemen (Special Dipping Noodles)

Here’s the unique twist:
👉 The “Tokusei” versions come with extra char siu pork and a raw egg yolk (not a seasoned egg). The egg yolk blends beautifully with the rich broth, adding smoothness and depth.

Although tsukemen is tasty here, I honestly recommend starting with the ramen—it’s the true star of Marusho.

Inside the Restaurant

Located on the 8th floor of Yodobashi Akiba, Marusho Ramen is super convenient after shopping or sightseeing in Akihabara.

The restaurant has both counter and table seating, so whether you’re dining solo or with friends, you’ll feel comfortable. The atmosphere is casual and the turnover is fast, making it great for a quick but satisfying meal.

Unique Features

  • Self-service water → Grab your own cup and pour water at the station.
  • Free rice → Just say “rice please” when giving your ticket to the staff.
  • Flavor boost → Top your ramen with garlic and black pepper to suit your taste.

💡 Pro tip: Take a slice of char siu, wrap it with nori, add some rice, and finish with a touch of broth. Heaven in a bite!

What I Tried – Tokusei Ramen

  • Menu: Tokusei Ramen
  • Price: ¥1,130
  • Taste & Texture: The broth is oily, rich, and full of flavor. The raw egg yolk melts into the soup, creating a smooth, silky texture. The noodles soak up the broth perfectly, and garlic/black pepper bring out even more punch.
  • Volume & Satisfaction: With free rice included, this is a super filling meal. Perfect for when you’re hungry after exploring Akihabara.
  • Best way to enjoy: Mix the egg yolk into the broth, then add garlic and black pepper for extra kick. Don’t forget to pair bites of char siu and nori with rice!
