A large-scale exhibition revealing the “behind-the-scenes secrets” of the popular manga “Jujutsu Kaisen” (written by Gege Akutami and published by Shueisha), currently serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump,” will be held at Hikarie Hall in Shibuya Hikarie from July 6, 2024, to August 27, 2024.
This exhibition will comprehensively unveil the creative process of “Jujutsu Kaisen” using digital techniques, along with explanations from the author. For the first time, some parts of the prototype “Jujutsu Sou-Sen,” which was created before the serialization, will be revealed. There will be photo spots where visitors can take pictures.
Additionally, there will be an abundance of never-before-seen materials for fans, including name sketches and drafts of “Jujutsu Kaisen.” The official exhibition shop will offer 90 items, including the exhibition catalog.
Voice actors Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori) and Junichi Suwabe (Ryomen Sukuna) from the “Jujutsu Kaisen” anime will appear in the audio guide. As navigators, they will uncover the behind-the-scenes stories of Gege Akutami’s creative process.
Enoki commented, “I read carefully so that the content would be easy for everyone listening to the guide to understand. I’m happy that I was able to say ‘jujutsu sorcerer’ without stumbling once. This exhibition features behind-the-scenes stories and creative episodes from Akutami-sensei that even I didn’t know about, so I think not only ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ fans but everyone will enjoy it. Please come and visit!”
Suwabe appealed, “This exhibition delves into the process of creating a manga work at an unprecedented level. The vast amount of materials you can see are all very valuable. It’s definitely a must-see. I also helped guide you on this journey into the depths of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen.’ I hope you enjoy it. Thank you very much.”
As a special gift for visitors, an original sticker combining color illustrations of characters and draft scenes will be distributed at the entrance of the exhibition area to each person entering with an admission ticket or invitation during the exhibition period. (※Eight designs are printed on a single sheet and are not distributed randomly.)

A timeline featuring Gege Akutami’s journey from his debut to the creation of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” including manga, anime, and musicals, will be displayed.
Domain 1: Prototypes & Names
The names (storyboards) and drafts leading up to the final manuscripts will be displayed without reservation. The prototype names “Jujutsu Sou-Sen,” created before the serialization and connected to the prequel “Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School,” will be exhibited for the first time.
Secret Name Unveiled: Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School
Introduced in “Jump GIGA,” a special edition of “Weekly Shonen Jump,” and later published as Volume 0 of the comic series, “Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School” will be featured. Panels will display excerpts of previously unpublished names.
Secret Name Unveiled: Jujutsu Sou-Sen
After “Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School,” the prototype “Jujutsu Sou-Sen,” created for the serialization meeting of “Weekly Shonen Jump,” will be exhibited. Panels will show excerpts of the previously unpublished names, revealing precious insights into the creative process and ideas later incorporated into “Jujutsu Kaisen.”
Full Disclosure: The Secret Diagram Room
From Chapter 1 (Volume 1) to Chapter 236 (Volume 26) of the serialized “Jujutsu Kaisen,” names and drafts that remain as data will be projected for display. The names span over 4400 pages, and the drafts over 3000 pages, continuously flowing to showcase the massive amount of work and time spent by the author.
Most of these names are being publicly displayed for the first time. The valuable drafts reveal the preparation process for constructing famous scenes. The exhibition also includes “analog” names handwritten by Akutami before scanning, as well as some “feedback names” showing interactions and feedback from his editor.
Domain 2: Digital Drawing Methods
From planning to drawing and collaboration with assistants, the meticulous creative process unique to digital drawing in “Jujutsu Kaisen” will be clearly introduced and explained.
Explanation of the Digital Drawing Process for “Jujutsu Kaisen”
The process of manga creation in a digital drawing environment, which is becoming a standard, varies widely. This exhibition explains the steps taken by Akutami and his assistants in creating “Jujutsu Kaisen.”
Digital <Multilayer Drawing> Model
The “layers” that make up the “digital original drawings” are transformed into objects. This allows visitors to visually experience the reality of a single digital drawing as a “multilayered structure of illustrations.”
Experience Original Drawing Data Display <4-Screen Multi Ver.>
Displays arranged in four screens show the process Akutami and his assistants go through to complete a single manuscript.
Domain 3: Comprehensive Explanation of Serialized Manuscripts
In areas divided by story, the exhibition provides an in-depth explanation of character, setting, and story creation, using names, drafts, and background art. Q&A style comments from Gege Akutami further delve into previously unrevealed aspects.
Because the manuscripts are drawn digitally, visitors can view names, drafts, and background art displayed on panels and through videos. Some areas also feature photo spots.

A collection of powerful color illustrations will be exhibited in impressive sizes. The digital nature of the artwork allows for enlarged outputs and design treatments, making it possible to see trimmed parts in a wider range.
