Sunrise and Studio Khara Collaborate for the Latest Gundam Series ‘Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX’

The highly anticipated new Gundam series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (G-Quax) is brought to life through a groundbreaking collaboration between Studio Khara and Sunrise. The theatrical pre-release version, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, will feature exclusive giveaways for attendees and newly announced merchandise.

The Gundam series began in 1979 with the TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam, a franchise depicting human warfare with giant robotic weapons called Mobile Suits (MS). By incorporating military and political perspectives into robot anime, it pioneered the “real robot anime” genre. Since then, numerous sequels have been created, including those set in the original “Universal Century” timeline (Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, 1985) and others in alternate universes (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, 2022).

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (G-Quax) is a new installment in the Gundam franchise, produced by Studio Khara, known for the Evangelion series, and Sunrise (a brand of Bandai Namco Filmworks). The series is scheduled to air on Nippon TV. Kazuya Tsurumaki, who directed the Rebuild of Evangelion films, including Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time (2021), will serve as the director. The writing will be led by Yoji Enokido, with mechanical design by Ikuto Yamashita. Character designs will be handled by Take, the illustrator known for Nisio Isin’s novel series Zaregoto.

Ahead of the TV broadcast, a special theatrical version, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, will premiere on Friday, January 17, 2025, in 426 theaters, including 52 IMAX® screens.

Exclusive Giveaway for Theatergoers

To commemorate the opening day of the theatrical version, an exclusive giveaway campaign has been announced.
