|Laid-back Camp Rin’s Camping Rice Recipe 1: “Soup Pasta

In the 5th episode of the anime “Laid-back Camp”, Rin-chan drove her moped 140km in the cold to Mt. Riding a moped for 140km in the extreme cold is worthy of respect (lol).
Up until now, Rin has been eating only cup noodles.

It was her first time to cook a proper camp meal. It can be made with just one kettle, so it’s easy and quick to make for solo camping or lunch!

Let’s take a look at how to make it!

■Ingredients (for 1 person)
・Half an onion
・2 slices bacon
・1/6 of shimeji mushrooms
・2 sprigs asparagus
・3cm garlic tube
・1 tablespoon olive oil
・200ml milk
・150ml water
・100g pasta
・2 slices of cheese
・1 consommé cube
・A pinch of pepper
・A pinch of salt
・parsley, to taste

■Prep
When camping, it is best to cut the ingredients at home in advance and put them in a Ziploc bag.
You can cut the ingredients at home and put them in a Ziploc bag.

・Onion – thinly sliced
・Bacon – Cut into strips about 5mm wide
・Shimeji mushrooms … Remove from “ishizuki”.
・Asparagus: Remove the tough strands with a peeler and cut into 5cm pieces.

■How to make
①Put olive oil and grated garlic in a pot and fry the ingredients.
②When the ingredients have softened, add 150 ml of water and consommé and bring to a boil.
③When the water is boiling, fold the pasta in half and put it in the cochetta.
④When the pasta absorbs the water and the water starts to decrease, add 200ml of milk and sliced cheese and boil until the pasta becomes soft.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
⑤Sprinkle with parsley for garnish.

It’s so easy!
If you are making this at a high altitude campsite, the boiling point of the water will be lower, so boil the water for longer than the indicated time.

Soup pasta made with just one kettle is perfect for the cold season!

I recommend it because it requires less washing up and is quick to prepare.

■Camping equipment used by Rin-chan
By using the camping gear that Rin-chan used, we can recreate it even better!

Rin-chan doesn’t use them, but cutting them at home and bringing the ingredients with you will make cooking at the campsite a lot easier.

|Laid-back Camp Rin-chan’s camping food recipe 2: Hot sandwich meat buns

In episode 10 of the anime Laid-back Camp, the hot sandwich steamed buns made at Mount Jimmagata in Nagano Prefecture.
I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s a great idea to make a hot sandwich.
Let’s take a look at how to make them.

■Ingredients (for 1 person)
・Meat bun
・Butter
・sauce for gyoza

■How to make
①Spread butter on both sides of the hot sandwich maker.
②Place buns on top and press in hot sandwich maker.
③Grill over low to medium heat, watching carefully (about 5 minutes on each side, and about 2 minutes after flipping over).
It’s done!

It’s very easy!
The surface becomes crispy as it is pressed in the hot sandwich maker, and the butter flavor goes well with it.

|Laid-back Camp Rin’s Camping Food Recipe 3: S’mores

■Ingredients (for 1 person)
・1 bag of marshmallows
・chocolate cookie

■How to make
①Roast the marshmallow on a bamboo skewer until the inside is soft and fluffy. Roast slowly over a long flame (about 3 to 5 cm away from the skewer).
②Roast the surface of the cookie. You can do this without roasting, but it tastes better if you do.
③Put marshmallows between the cookies.

Perfect for a 3 o’clock snack or an after dinner dessert!

|Laid-back Camp Rin-Chan’s Camp Meal Recreated Recipe Extra Edition: Tomato Sukiyaki

This is not a camp meal that Rin made, but it is one that left a lasting impression on me during Laid-back Camp, so I’ll post the recipe as an extra.
We ate it together with the members of the wild camping club during the Christmas camping in episode 11 of the anime Laid-back Camp.
It was a gorgeous camp meal because Inuko-chan won a raffle for a high quality meat!

In the anime, they first had regular sukiyaki, then tomato sukiyaki, and finally cheese pasta.

It looked delicious!

■Ingredients (for 3-4 people)
・3 tomatoes
・2 onions
・300g beef
・100ml soy sauce
・100ml sake
・1.5 tbsp sugar
・2 tbsp olive oil
・4cm garlic clove
・basil, to taste
・Eggs, as many as you need
・For the cheese pasta at the end
・200g pasta
・80g pizza cheese

■Prep
If you cut vegetables and other ingredients at home and put them in a Ziploc bag, you will be able to prepare them smoothly at the campsite.

・Tomatoes … Cut into wedges
・Onion – cut into wedges

■How to make
①Place olive oil and garlic in a pot and heat until garlic is fragrant.
②Sauté onions over medium heat for about 3 minutes.
③Arrange the tomatoes on top of the fried tomatoes.
④Add sugar, soy sauce and sake.
⑤Cover and simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes.
⑥When the tomatoes are cooked, top with the beef.
⑦Garnish with basil.
That’s it for the tomato sukiyaki.

The acidity of the tomatoes and the basil make it a very tasty Western-style sukiyaki!

Next, how to make cheese pasta for the end.
①Boil the pasta.
②Add the pasta to the leftover tomato sukiyaki soup.
③Sprinkle pizza cheese over the pasta and when it melts, add it to the tomato sukiyaki soup.
You can also change the pasta to rice for a delicious risotto.
