Psycho-Pass” in the anime “PSYCHO-PASS” refers to the numerical value of a person’s mental state.
Due to various incidents and stresses, people’s “psychopathy” worsens, and the value of their crime coefficient rises, and they become a reserve army of criminals who commit incidents and crimes. The Public Security Bureau, where the protagonist, Zhu Miyamori, is in charge of protecting, capturing, and executing punishments for citizens in this state.
The “hue” or “psychopathic hue” is used as a barometer to make psychopaths easier to understand.
Hue is a measurement of biological response that quantifies the human mental state and is visualized as a color. The healthy value of 60 or below is green. The slightly dangerous value of around 90, subject to medication, psychological counseling, and therapy, is yellow, and the value of 120 or above, which is subject to punishment, is red. The color becomes muddy as the psychological state deteriorates due to stress, etc.
As the psychological state worsens due to stress and other factors, the colors become cloudier. People use this as an indicator for daily mental care, and simple hue scans are used daily.
The Cibulac System is a comprehensive system that analyzes and compiles data on the mental state of citizens to determine the coefficient of crime and provides lifelong welfare support for good citizenship, such as helping individuals find appropriate jobs and realize their desires.
It also plays a role in maintaining and managing urban security, preventing crime, and determining the execution of punishment.
It has been announced that the system is operated by parallel operation of high-capacity supercomputers. Still, in reality, the brains of “exonerated persons” whose psychopathic numerical values are not judged properly are utilized as biological units, and these biological units are incorporated into the system.
Essentially, the system has a fatal flaw in that the opinions of the person who provided the brain as a biological unit greatly affects and reflects the operation of the “Cibulac System. To make up for this flaw, it constantly tries to take in the brains of “exonerated” people.
In addition, the person who provided the brain can operate by installing the biological brain unit provided by himself in a prosthetic cyborg linked to the information with the Sibula System.
One of the parameters quantified by the Cibula system is the “crime coefficient,” which represents the risk of becoming a criminal.
When the crime coefficient rises, it can be lowered through therapy. However, there is a limit to the number that can be lowered. Those who exceed the standard value and do not recover are called “potential criminals” and are effectively excluded and isolated from society even if they have not committed a crime.
It is a gun-type portable weapon that is allowed to be used by surveillance and enforcement officers when a crime is committed, and its official name is “Portable Psychological Diagnosis/Suppression Enforcement System: Dominator.
It is linked to the “Sibula System,” a system that works on the crime coefficient of citizens and governs the maintenance and management of urban security, crime prevention, and punishment.
For this reason, only pre-registered users can use the Dominator, and it has a lock function that prevents others from using it, so even if the Dominator should fall into the hands of a criminal, it cannot be used.
It has a function to measure the crime coefficient and depending on the crime coefficient, it can transform into a “Paralyzer” (anesthesia gun), “Eliminator” (execution gun), or “Decomposer” (molecular decomposition gun), and take a form corresponding to the crime.
