Story: In a great nation at the center of the continent, there lived a girl in the harem of the emperor’s consorts. Her name is Maomao. Originally a pharmacist in the pleasure district, she now works in the lower ranks of the harem. One day, she learns that all the emperor’s children are short-lived. Hearing that the two current princes are also gradually weakening from illness, Maomao, out of sheer curiosity, starts investigating the cause, insisting that there couldn’t possibly be a curse. Jinshi, a beautiful eunuch, appoints Maomao as the poison taster for the emperor’s favorite consort. Although she has no interest in people, her obsession with poisons and medicines is extraordinary.
