My Hero Academia Movie: Theme Song by Vaundy and Trailer

It has been announced that the theme song for the theatrical anime ‘My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: You’re Next,’ based on the original work by Kohei Horikoshi, will be ‘Homunculus,’ a newly written song by Vaundy. Alongside this announcement, a new trailer featuring the theme song has been released.

Regarding the theme song, Vaundy commented, “I remember creating it while grappling with the question of what my own ‘Quirk’ is. I thought about how I could cheer on the characters of My Hero Academia and tried to include my answer in the song.” A self-proclaimed huge fan of ‘My Hero Academia,’ Vaundy added, “I believe it has become a milestone in my music career.” The visual on the jacket features an impressive line drawing of Deku, illustrated by Yuki Hayashi, who is responsible for the character design and main animation direction for ‘My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: You’re Next.’

The trailer introduces the original characters Julio and Anna. In the trailer, Julio loudly declares, “You have no idea what kind of ‘Quirk’ the young lady possesses,” while Anna, who has a special ‘Quirk,’ makes petals overflow. In the latter half of the trailer, intense action scenes featuring Class 1-A and the pro heroes unfold along with the theme song.

‘My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: You’re Next,’ the fourth film in the ‘My Hero Academia’ series, will be released on August 2. This completely new, original story is overseen and based on the character designs by Horikoshi himself.

Comment from Vaundy: “Every time I read or watch ‘My Hero Academia,’ I always find myself questioning what my own ‘Quirk’ is, what I possess, or if I possess anything at all. Each time, I feel that ‘Quirks’ are something inherited from those who came before us. I strongly empathize with Deku and his friends and am encouraged by the sight of the protagonist fighting fiercely.

While creating this song, I remember grappling with the question of what my own ‘Quirk’ is. I thought about how I could cheer on the characters of My Hero Academia and tried to include my answer in the song.

It is truly an honor to be involved in such a beloved series in this way, and I believe it has become a milestone in my music career. Let’s watch the movie and the future of My Hero Academia together.”
