Various information about “Kaiju No. 8” was released this week on Monday, August 5th, in celebration of Kaiju No. 8 Day. Announcements included the confirmation of the second season’s broadcast in 2025, a compilation of the first season and the simultaneous screening of “Hoshina’s Day Off,” the holding of a special event featuring voice actors, and new updates surrounding the “Kaiju No. 8 Exhibition.”

“Kaiju No. 8” is a battle manga by Naoya Matsumoto that began serialization in Shonen Jump+ in July 2020. Despite only having 13 volumes published, it has become a popular work with over 15 million copies in circulation in Japan. Set in Japan, where giant lifeforms known as “Kaiju” appear, the story follows the protagonist Kafka Hibino, who dreams of joining the Defense Force specialized in exterminating these monsters but ends up becoming a Kaiju himself after being parasitized by a mysterious small Kaiju. The series, which depicts Kaiju as metaphors for massive disasters and aims to be a battle manga enjoyable from an adult perspective, has gained broad popularity alongside its TV anime adaptation that started airing in April this year.

Second Season Confirmed! Plus, First Season Compilation and Simultaneous Screening of “Hoshina’s Day Off” Announced!

A new video titled “Anime ‘Kaiju No. 8’ Season 1 [Classified: Kaiju Record Video] / Latest Information Release PV,” which reviews the battles with Kaiju in a documentary style from the perspective of the Japan Defense Force, was released. It announced that the TV anime’s second season will air in 2025 and that a compilation of the first season, along with the simultaneous screening of “Hoshina’s Day Off,” will be released in theaters in 2025.

Special Event Announced!

The first-ever special event exclusively for the anime “Kaiju No. 8” has been announced. It will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Kannai Hall in Kanagawa Prefecture. The event will feature the main cast, including Katsuya Fukunishi, Asami Seto, Wataru Katoh, Fairouz Ai, and Kengo Kawanishi. Priority tickets will be included as a bonus with the limited edition of the fourth Blu-ray release.

Additional Information on the “Kaiju No. 8 Exhibition” Unveiled!

Information about original merchandise for the first-ever “Kaiju No. 8 Exhibition” has also been revealed. Exclusive items include charms modeled after the main characters’ weapons (priced at 2,200 yen), Defense Force emblem tags (priced at 880 yen), and a Kaiju No. 8 paperweight (priced at 19,800 yen), among others. The exhibition will be held at Tokyo Dome City starting Friday, September 13th. Tickets, which come with a special clear bookmark set, are available for purchase on e-plus.
