Several thousand years after all of humanity was petrified in an instant by a mysterious phenomenon… A young boy with a superhuman brain, Senku, awakens in a world where civilization has collapsed, known as the Stone World. The TV anime Dr. STONE follows Senku’s adventures as he challenges this Stone World with the power of genius-level science. The original manga, Dr. STONE (written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi), was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from Issue 14 of 2017 to Issue 14 of 2022. The series has received numerous accolades, including second place in the 2018 Next Manga Award (Comic Division) and the Shogakukan Manga Award (Boys’ Division). The cumulative circulation of the manga has surpassed 17 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime Dr. STONE began airing in July 2019, with the second season following in 2021. In 2022, a TV special aired, and in 2023, the third season, Dr. STONE NEW WORLD, was broadcast in two parts. In December of that same year, the announcement of the final season, Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE, was made, generating significant buzz. 2024 marks the 5th anniversary of the anime’s broadcast, and the excitement surrounding the series continues to grow.
The recently unveiled teaser visual features Senku gazing up at the moon floating in the vast expanse of a starry sky, with the words “To the moon, I’ll go in no time,” reflecting his long-held dream since childhood. Having overcome countless challenges and grown alongside his friends, what future does Senku see ahead?
The story is entering its final season. What twists and turns await Senku and his comrades? The grand narrative, spanning across time in the Stone World, will be aired in 2025, divided into three cours.
Furthermore, to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the anime, an original art exhibition has been scheduled. The exhibition will start in Tokyo (Yurakucho) in November 2024 and will tour Fukuoka (Hakata) and Osaka (Namba). Details will be announced later on the official anime X account.
