TV Anime The Apothecary Diaries POP UP STORE – Second Edition Announced!

The second edition of the TV anime The Apothecary Diaries POP UP STORE has been confirmed. This time, the theme is Episode 29 (Season 2, Episode 5), Moon Spirit, featuring newly illustrated artwork of Maomao dressed up and Jinshi disguised as the Moon Spirit.

Set in the imperial palace, The Apothecary Diaries follows Maomao, a young food taster, as she unravels various mysteries at the orders of the eunuch Jinshi. The novel series, written by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Touko Shino (published by Hero Bunko / Imagica Infos), has surpassed 33 million copies in circulation. The TV anime adaptation premiered in October 2023 and has consistently ranked among the top titles across various streaming platforms. The second season of the anime has been airing since January 10, 2025.

The The Apothecary Diaries POP UP STORE is organized by Filter Ink and was well received in 2024 when it first launched at Umeda Loft before traveling to various locations. This year marks the second edition of the event.

Theme: Episode 29 (Season 2, Episode 5) Moon Spirit

In this episode, Ai La and Aileen, emissaries from a foreign land, express their wish to witness the Moon Spirit, a legendary figure their grandfather once saw in this country. To leave a strong impression on the tall and beautiful emissaries, Maomao devises a plan—having the stunningly handsome Jinshi disguise himself as a woman and using moths as a dramatic effect to amaze the guests.

The POP UP STORE will feature a variety of exclusive and pre-sale items showcasing the special Moon Spirit-themed illustrations of Jinshi and Maomao. The event will also include:

• Maomao, who usually has freckles, is seen in a fully adorned look for Moon Spirit, appearing without her signature freckles.
• Jinshi’s new illustration captures him in an elegant dance pose, emphasizing the height difference between him and Maomao, making it a striking visual.
• Additionally, a set of mini character illustrations will debut, featuring key figures from Moon Spirit: Maomao, Jinshi, Gaoshun, Zisu, Ai La, Aileen, and the Sharp Granny (depicted in her younger days). A range of mini-character merchandise will also be available.

Purchase Bonus

For every ¥2,000 spent (tax included), customers will receive one randomly selected illustration card (out of seven designs). The designs will vary depending on the store location.

Synopsis
