If a coin locker isn’t the right fit — your bag is oversized, you’d rather hand it to a person than fight with a touch panel, or you want to arrange something before you even land — there’s a staffed luggage storage counter two minutes from Akihabara Station: Luggage storage Tokyo Akihabara, known locally as あずかりや秋葉原 (Azukariya Akihabara).
Location and Hours
The counter is on the 1st floor of the New Akihabara Center Building, at 1-16-10 Sotokanda, Chiyoda-ku — about 140 meters (a 2-minute walk) from Akihabara Station. The operator posts walking-direction videos from the Electric Town south exit, the central exit/Tsukuba Express side, and the Hibiya Line exit, which is a level of hand-holding most storage counters don’t bother with.

Check for irregular closures before you go. The shop posts occasional one-off closures and schedule changes on its site with fairly short notice — we found an announcement of a closure on the exact date this article covers a nearby locker bank, which is a reminder that “always open” isn’t something to assume for a small, staffed counter. There’s no substitute for checking the shop’s own site the day you plan to use it.
Pricing and What You Can Store
- ¥1,000 per day, up to 2 items per that rate — this covers large suitcases, not just small bags
- Maximum storage period is 2 weeks
- Bags must be picked up by 19:00, whatever the day’s closing time is
- Not accepted: explosives, other hazardous materials, fresh food, live animals, plants
No registration and no reservation are required — you walk in with your bag during opening hours. That’s a real advantage over locker banks that fill up on busy days, since a staffed counter can typically make room in a way a fixed number of lockers can’t.
Payment Methods
This is one of the more foreigner-friendly options in the area on payment alone:

- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners)
- QR code payment (PayPay, au PAY, Alipay)
- Transit IC cards (Suica, PASMO, ICOCA, and others)
Alipay support in particular signals this counter sees enough Chinese-speaking travelers to bother integrating it — not something every small storage shop does.
Luggage Delivery, Not Just Storage
Beyond simple storage, the shop added a delivery service: for customers already using their storage, they’ll receive luggage shipped from the airport or a hotel and hold it for pickup, or arrange delivery onward. Rates for the TEBURA-KUN forwarding service they list:

They also note delivery is available to major hotels in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe, and that travelers without a Japanese address (i.e. tourists) can use the service — you’re expected to email ahead if you’re having something shipped to the counter.
When This Beats a Coin Locker
- Your bag is too large or oddly shaped for a standard locker
- You want to store something for more than a day or two — coin lockers charge per day and add up fast; this is a flat daily rate with a 2-week ceiling
- You’d rather deal with a person than a touch panel, especially if there’s a payment or access issue
- You need the delivery/forwarding option to send a bag ahead to the airport
For a quick same-day drop while you shop, one of the coin locker banks around the station is usually simpler and cheaper. This counter is the better call for anything bigger, longer, or more complicated than “I need my hands free for a few hours.”
