Kaiyodo is one of Japan’s most respected figure sculptors, and its Radio Kaikan shop is the place to see that craftsmanship up close.

What They Sell
Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby Tokyo sits inside Radio Kaikan. Alongside the display cases of sculpted figures there is a long bank of capsule machines running Kaiyodo’s own lines — dinosaurs, animals and the Capsule Q series — at ¥500 a turn.
The Amazing Yamaguchi articulated figure line is displayed prominently, and there is a Godzilla piece at the entrance.
Worth a Visit?
Most Akihabara figure shops sell other companies’ products. Kaiyodo sells its own, which means the sculpting quality is the point rather than the breadth of stock. If you want to see what Japanese figure craftsmanship looks like up close, this is a short and worthwhile stop.

Hours: 12:00–20:00 weekdays, 11:00–19:00 weekends and public holidays. Location: inside Radio Kaikan.
Note these hours differ from the rest of the building. Capsule machines run ¥500 a turn.
English: do not count on staff speaking it. Signage is a different story — floor guides and some price labels carry English, and that is usually enough to find what you need.
Tax-free: available at some shops but not all, and the counter is not always on the ground floor. Check before you carry purchases around the building. Note that Japan’s tax-free system changes on 1 November 2026, moving from exemption at the register to a refund at the airport.
Payment: cards are widely accepted at the larger shops, but carrying ¥10,000–20,000 in cash avoids surprises.
